Bonne anniversaire Beeble!

Burberry Prorsum's past few AW collections have been key inspirations to me, and after the last revolutionary collection, I was eager (to say the least) to see the results of the 2012 collection. The collection was finally revealed at LFW yesterday, ultimately being streamed live outside in Piccadilly too. Once seeing videos from the show and close-up photographs, my initial thoughts were drawn to the vibrant palette of colours- tangerines, teals, baby browns and (to me the most prominent) the ice snow whites. Designer Christopher Bailey seems to have taken a twist to this collection, by bringing a maximised femininity to the selection of garments; and of course, much like their previous collections, this line incorporates the quintessential elegance and style which only the Burberry trademark can fulfill.
In this collection Burberry steps away from the more edgy and sensual shapes which we saw in their last AW collection, and instead brings in tough fabrics with big textures, coupling them with cocoon and minimised peplum shapes. It is certainly the mix of radiant textures from this collection that indulges me: the tweed, the fur and the unmissable PVC cape shawls are what get me excited for the next AW season to begin.

I mean who would complain about the British weather if we all had a Burberry cape raincoat to hand?
And as you would've guessed from my title, today marks one year of me blogging! I struggled to believe that it had already been a year at first, and yesterday (at Somerset house LFW) when an interviewer asked me why I started blogging I couldn't seem to respond with an adequate (or articulate) answer, only being able to think of just how much I currently enjoyed blogging. With the fear of trivially overcrowding this post I have decided to include the many, many street-style-esque photographs from LFW which me and Vicki took yesterday in an upcoming post instead!
A big thank you to all the readers of this blog, your support definitely means a lot to me!

Much love,
Habin xo.

Let them eat cake.

I must admit that Wildfox couture clothing doesn't usually impress me much, and has never been to my taste. The same definately can't be said about their lookbook editorials, which have provided me with more inspiration than those from the best couture houses, such as D&G or Burberry. The 2010 Wildfox lookbook was memorable and I constantly revert back to take references from the photographs for inspiration. I adore wildfox editorials because they illustrate a story in a fun, light-hearted way- always in a beautiful setting.
After what seemed like an agonising wait (okay, so slight exaggeration), the 2011 Spring Wildfox lookbook is out! The lookbook is based on the glutinous and indulgent era in 1770 France, and it revolves around the frivolous and luxurious reign of Marie Antoinette. The editorial is fun and contemporary, and it collides the life of Marie Antoinette with Wildfox's label, which, evident from the lookbook, has resulted in dramatic, youthful and awe-inspiring photographs. I can assure that you'll enjoy looking through the photographs as much as I did!
The hair and make-up in these photographs is absolutely perfect, after repetitive hair-do's and eye art down the runway last season, this is just what I needed to see! The cobalt hue in the lookbook makes the photographs look dreamy and give them an iridescent feel, reflecting a possible flashback scene. More can be seen on the Wildfox blog!

Much love,

Habin xo.

"Photograpy is the essence of his being. He is consumed by the camera: I mean the bloody thing never stops going."

We've all witnessed the term historical photography being denoted by the modern label old-fashioned photography, yet the indulgence we get from rustic photographs remains unchanged. Antique fashion photographs have an undeniable wit of magic about them, painting what we can only imagine, a more idyllic lifestyle. These photographs capture a sense of mystique and display the significant decadence and style of different eras. The appeal of old-fashioned photographs- (especially those addressing social status and style) is drawn from the nostalgia and classic, fresh-faced subjects in the photographs. Endless artists have re-created scenes from the past, but for me the unequivocal style of photography of  the ever outrageous, and outspoken David Bailey, cannot be denied.
The predominance of Bailey's photography lies within his ability to be contemporary, outrageous and 'fashion accepted'. Bailey creates an illusional paradox of his own world, propelled by sex, socialites and style. Bailey's photography captures the essence of his being and the ever revolving lifestyle which he lived, and retrospectively, as a seventy-two year old, still does. There is an unmissable touch of aggressiveness and anarchy within Bailey's work, but his outspoken and quixotic voice which is impressioned into his photography, does nothing but inspire.
"They've got everything- the beauty, the wonder, the danger, the aggression, the softness. He is a romantic, underneath it all. He has to hang it on an austere, scientific exterior. But all art is romantic. And he is hopelessly romantic" -Damien Hurst talks about David Bailey's art.

Much love, Habin xo.

Soundtrack

"Memory takes a lot of poetic licence. It omits some details; others are exaggerated, according to the emotional value of the articles it touches, for memory is seated predominantly in the heart. In memory everything seems to happen to music."
