LFW I- Charles Anastase and Mulberry.

Half term has begun, and so far, I have found myself eagerly admiring collections from the long-awaited arrival of London Fashion Week. To me, Autumn-Winter collections always have a definitive inevitability about them- arising from the annual presence of fur, tweed and big knits. I have been following the results of LFW daily, (although I am yet to catch up with all the collections from NYFW), the use of subtle contrast- mixing soft, preppy shapes and fabrics with hard, edgy accessories in Autumn of 2011 is imminent.
I am certain that I won't be alone in saying that the CSM collection this season has been the most show-stopping, with the graduates once again dictating our r-t-w wardrobes with what can only be stated as an imagination as vast and boundless of a child's. Their was a certain familiarity about Jenny Postle's line- (which I will bravely and publicly state now), reminded me first and foremost of Elmer the elephant.
One of my favourite collections of LFW definitively has to be that of the Parisian cult designer Charles Anastase. It was the colour palette (of deep medieval hues and old-age scarlets) as well as the contrasting fabrics- with heavy-duty fabrics paired with delicate chiffons. With my weakness for edgy looks, Anastase's collection has the perfect mix of preppy and alternative, providing key inspiration for my school wardrobe.
In relation to Anastase's collection, I felt privy to inserting a little extract of another collection which has inspired my school wardrobe- Mulberry. Mulberry's very feminine approach on the season welcomes the influence of anything outdoorsy, with the indent of some of my favourite colour combinations- creams, beiges, camels and khaki tones.
I am unexplainably excited for the presentation of Erdem and Burberry Prorsum tomorrow! I will be in London and will bring you street style snaps of LFW's latest 'frow' candidates.
Which is your favourite collection this season from LFW? or from NYFW?

A 1920's Affair.

Friday night saw floor length maxis, show girl feathers and lots and lots of glitzy sparkle- it was my friend Becci's 17th birthday and we celebrated 1920's style. I've recently developed a growing fascination towards what's otherwise known as The Jazz Age or The Flapper period, after studying the era in English, so the theme definately got me excited! It was interesting to see what everyone's conception of the 1920's was, in terms of style and dresses. The night consisted of, what seemed like never-ending platters of food (not that I was complaining!), Mary Pickford cocktails, Chinese lanterns, unharmonious chorusing to Queen and a perfectly delicious cupcake pyramid- complete with sparkler candles. Birthday wishes to Becci!

I wore a TOPSHOP dress £30 (on sale!), TOPSHOP platform sandals £68 (as seen in my previous post) and YSL rouge volupte lipstick. All photographs were taken on my PENTAX ZOOM60X- unedited film.

Serendipity is life.

Models: Freja, Frida, Lindsey Wixson, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Marike La Roux: it is my dream (and life goal) to style and photograph them. As nice as it is to see fresh faces on the runway for the new season, i'm finding it difficult to let go of last years break through models. I find that i'm having to restrain myself from dedicating blog posts, if not, my whole blog to Freja Beha Erichsen! My determination to get a tattoo in two years has only been encouraged by Freja's infamous tattoos, and Abbey's white ink tattoos have now left me contemplating on which type of ink I would go for. However, I have plenty of time to finalise any artwork ideas (including two years for my parents to try and persuade me not to get one). The last two photographs show one of my first few buys of this season- these beauties are from TOPSHOP for £68! It's fair to say that i've grown an uncontrollable need for heels- chunky heels.
Will be bringing updates on my outings from January which were recorded on my camera, as i'm getting the film processed soon!

Habin xo.

And all the words that we couldn't say in the backyards where we used to stay.

I seem to be apologising far too frequently for my absences from the blogosphere. It has been continuously irritating me that my last post was in December, and so far, my aim to commit to my blog in the new year, is less than successful. I am now the proud owner of a macbook pro- [queue victory dance], of course this leaves no excuse not to blog, as a new apple gadget is more than enough motivation. I have albums and albums of inspiration collections, outfit logs, candid photographs and not to forget, an overstated (and over-compiled) list of must-read novels and must-listen-to soundtracks, however, the rush of sixth form has left me with no time to compile these together. However, at long last, I bring to you a very brief post, in the promise that more content will be coming soon.

So, in relation to my previous post, here are the film results from the photoshoot – Velvetine which I did for Fringe magazine. I used a PENTAX Zoom 60X, which uses standard 35mm film, I am also in hope that I will soon own a Brownie reflex camera or a Carl Zeiss vintage folding camera- as you can see, I’ve branched quite an obsession in searching for the perfect film camera! It’d be really helpful if you could recommend any film cameras (ie. Double exposure ones) or any places which sell them affordably! Thanks in advance (:

Note; these are fresh from the film and unedited.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the results, Copyright to Habin Kim Photography.
And to end, I suggest you listen to some of my favourite tracks from (in my opinion) breakthrough artists Everything Everything with Photoshop Handsome,
 Funeral Party with Finale,
Neon trees with Animal.

Abyss of the mind.

I had an undoubtedly white Christmas, with the past week spent skiing in the French Alpes. My plans to do a post on the many, many sale items im lusting for was immediately denied, as blogger refused to let me upload images. I was hoping to do a big post to end the year quite nicely, instead I bring you a sneek peek into a shoot I did a few weeks ago for FRINGE MAGAZINE- brought to you in the form of an animated GIF!  (If it does not appear click on it to see)

Gif Created on Make A Gif
Models were Cleo, Ellie Carless and Yanloi. I recently got the roll of film from this shoot developed and the results are quite different so I will be posting them in time too. I hope everyone has an amazing night tonight and see you in the new year!
Apologies on the short post,
Much love,
Habin xo.

When the sun goes down.

I recently took these photographs which showcase the welcome intrusion of Christmas cheer in my house! However, the addition of fairy lights and the tree are needed to complete the annual Christmas decor. For me, Christmas will be a little different this year, with it being spent in France Skiing- I won’t be quick to judge but it’s inevitable that it definitely won’t be the same as Christmas back home. I’ve been hinting (rather unsubtly) towards an Apple Mac laptop and a graphics tablet, but the more likely outcome is clothes or shoes- although if this is the case I won’t be complaining! With the recent English weather I’d be perfectly chuffed with receiving a stack of thick wooly socks.
What are you lusting over for Christmas this year?

Best wishes,
Habin xo.
